Get a 2nd opinion: Very few sports medicine doctors use the term "sprain" regarding the knee. Sprain means a tear of a ligament. In the knee there are 4 main ligaments and a fifth that stabilizes the patella (kneecap). I would expect a sports med doc to tell you which ligament has been torn. If something is "popping out of place", I doubt your MRI is normal. I would focus on your patella first.
