10-14 days: A personal rule of thumb is about 2 weeks - if something is lasting longer than that, either an ulcer or a sore or a bump or just something that looks weird, you should see a doctor. We worry about lesions lasting longer than that being worse things like oral cancer. Most things like canker sores, oral herpes improve by that time.

Impossible to know: There are so many reasons to have bumps in your mouth that it is impossible to know what the bump is and therefore know how long it will be there. If you are concerned about it i would recommend going to see an ENT doctor and having him or her evaluate you.

Depends.: A bump in the mouth can be a lot of things. If it appeared after you bumped yourself with a toothbrush it should disappear within a week. If you don't know why it's there, see a dentist to get a diagnosis. It could be an abcess, it could be a plugged salivary gland, it could be many things so get it looked at if you don't know what caused it!
