Ice/stretch/massage: Although icing hasn't been studied rigorously and for athletes returning to play that same day, new data suggest that icing may be counterproductive - ice has been the mainstay for sore muscles for many years. It's cheap, it's safe, and for most people it works. A good gentle stretching at the end of the day also helps, as well as massage.
