It varies: on how much venom injected. Most brown recluse bites are no more serious than a bee sting. Redness, a burning sensation and swelling occur within the 1st hour. Within the first 24 hours the bite may blister, if there is discoloration around the bite, there may be skin necrosis, this occurs within 4 days of the bite. Signs of infection or necrosis need to be seen immediately.
