Usually a few days. : Gabapentin acts to stabilize nerves that are firing to much and are causing pain. Such as those in meralgia paresthetica. It can take a few days for the gabapentin to become effective, especially when starting with a low dose and increasing incrementally. Side effects include lethargy, sleepiness, dizziness, and yes a feeling of euphoria. Sometimes starting slow minimizes side effects.
