Can get better: Superficial nerves are often stretched during any surgery. They can take days to months to get better. At 3 weeks there is still hope. Injections sometimes help with the pain. Ultimately if you remain with a painful neuritis it may require surgery to get relief.

Try PEMF: There's not much in the literature that will help meralgia paresthetica. Gabapentin is a good idea. Increase the dose to just under that which makes you drowsy. Most drs. Don't use enough. Also, I have had one patient with mp who responded very well to pemf (pulsed electromagnetic frequency). Google pemf to see its many documented benefits. My patient only required 4 treatments.
