A member asked:

Recently started amitriptyline for pain/burning due to radiculopathy.how long b4 it starts working?feels like i have batt acid on neck, hands, arms, feet

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It takes awhile: Elavil (amitriptyline) or Amitryptyline can take weeks to start working - and may require titration of the dose (increasing the dose) in order to work. However, staying the course and being patient is often rewarding, because this medication is very effective for radiculopathy. Hang in there with your treatment, and let your Doctor know how you are responding to the medication.
