Common: Heart burn is extremely common and your obstetric provider will tell you their preferred approach. The spotting is also common. It happens in about 1/2 of all pregnancies I'm the first trimester. Of those who spot, 1/2 go on to have perfectly normal babies. Pelvic rest, nothing in the vagina, is advisable and , if you are very worried, an ultrasound can be reassuring.

Should not: Bleeding during pregnancy may be common but it is not normal and should always be evaluated by your doctor. Over the counter medications such an Ranitidine or Omeprazole are safe for use during pregnancy
