How high is sugar?: Hi. Depending on how high your sugar is, metformin alone may be completely inadequate. Metformin per se doesn't cause tiredness, but really high sugars do. Many type 2's need insulin at least initially to get very high sugars down, and multiple agents (i.e., not just metformin mono therapy). The tiredness could be your depression too. Get your sugars normalized and see how you feel. Good luck!

Sugar: Get your sugars under control. Eat good amounts or protein, very little carbohydrates and get some exercise. The more you aggressively attack your diabetes the better you will feel and the more energy you will have.
