Positive HCG ?: If HCG is positive, there has been implantation. If the TV ultrasound shows a "5 mm. fetal pole" it is possible that the fetus is not growing normally, but the early placental growth still produces enough HCG to be a "positive". It is also possible that ovulation was delayed (at 36 this happens sometimes) and you just have a very early pregnancy.
