Blood result for bilirubin was 27. all other liver function tests were great though so my doctor said it doesn't matter about the bilirubin. ok?

Isolated modestly elevated bilirubin is usually not meaningful but not to levels of 27. Did you mean 2.7? That would be a modest elevation, but 27 is too high to be a "nevermind".
