Rapid HIV test: The sensitivity and specificity of rapid HIV tests are over 99%. However, it is recommended that you repeat the HIV test in 6 months because that is how long it may take for your system to produce antibodies to the virus. Always use a barrier method of birth control such as a condom to prevent HIV.

I wouldn't: The odds of a false negative are very low. The gold standard is a nucleic acid assay and if you have obsessive thoughts that you may be positive, this is an option. Otherwise, put the event behind you, learn from it, hopefully cherish having been loved in any case, and be thankful for good health.
