No.: You are no more likely to get an infection than usual. There is always a small risk of infection after any surgery. Keep your knew cut clean and dry, use a little Bacitracin one or twice a day. The same goes for your surgical incision. If you have any signs of infection (redness, pus, increased pain, or fever) then call the doc who did your surgery quickly.

Not necessarily: I would just encourage you to keep a close eye on the new wound site to make sure you don't develop any redness, pain or discharge, which may be signs of infection. Also if this staple was old and rusty, you should review updating you tetanus booster with your doctor. Best of luck.
