A member asked:

Can a lumbar puncture cause any long term problems? (had it 6 mos ago) can it affect the brain or introduce new germs etc. to brain/body?

Not enough info: There are risks with lumbar punctures but if you were fine after the procedure and just now something is wrong it seems unlikely that it's due to the LP. Right after LPs it's common to have headaches and yes you can get an infection during the procedure but again being 6 mos out it seems unlikely to have complications develop. If u have had ongoing probs then u need to see your MD ASAP.
