If the disk bulges: ...or herniations are putting pressure on the nerves as they exit the spinal cord, they could cause your symptoms. However, there are other causes as well. Sciatica, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, spinal stenosis and meralgia paresthetica (LFCN) are some other causes. I recommend that you follow up with your doctor if your symptoms persist or worsen. Neurogenic: Most likely especially if the areas are posterolateral when the disc pathology is at L4-5. Pray to be in the lucky 80% that self-cure with a year.
