Antibiotics, NO!: It is possible that your symptom,a "sore throat" is not bacterial related and therefore antibiotics are not the appropriate treatment. There are other possible agents which could caused your symptoms, such as viral or fungal infections. I would suggest at this point to use warm salt water gargles,use acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain and inflammation, and follow up in 48-72 hours with your PCP.

Dx sorely needed: For how long were you taking the antibiotic? What kind? Did they say it was a "Strep throat?" How was it diagnosed? Do you feel relatively well except for the sore throat? If not, if you feel weak and tired or have lots of lumps in your neck, or recurring fever, see your doctor again.
