I have had a horrendous red, inflamed, sore throat for 3 weeks now! still have my tonsils which are flared up and keep getting that ugly white ball thing at the back near my tonsils. lymph nodes are big and sore too: help plz plz its so sore!

Dr. can check throat: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (as in this case). Throat lozenges and Tylenol or Motrin can temporarily lessen pain.
