Possibly: The only way to know is to monitor your blood pressure at home and in the office to see if it is at goal. Also, your doctor will check your kidney function to make sure there are no side effects on it.

Yes: maybe even more than what you actually need. I am sure there might be a mix of things, and a reason more than just "prehypertension" that you were initiated on Losartan. please clarify with your PCP.
