See Your Doctor Now: 16 yr old with painful rash for 1 wk, "leaking a liquid". No other details given. Rashes have many causes: allergic, infectious, & more. Visual inspection is required to make a diagnosis. Poison ivy is usually itchy, not painful. Shingles is a painful, blistering rash that can occur months to years after a prior chickenpox infection. See your doctor now for correct diagnosis and treatment.

Could be poison ivy: but PI is usually not painful per se. Agree, you need to have a doctor look at this. A picture is worth a 1000 words when it comes to rashes. If it is confined to one side of body or along rib or down one leg or arm, then shingles needs to be considered. You are pretty young to have shingles but I have seen it is children as young as nine. There are other causes too. Get this checked!
