Poison ivy may be treated without a steroid injection. The oil of the plant leaves may be removed with an oatmeal bath, and topical steroid cream is often effective. An antihistamine is usually effective in control of the allergic reaction. Watch for swelling and widespread reaction, and please follow up with your Physician.
