I have a rash that i think is poison ivy for a week now. how do i know if it is ok to keep treating it at home, or when i need to see a doctor?

Poison ivy: See your physician or a dermatologist if the rash is spreading,or there is extensive surrounding redness ,any pus collection or profuse discharge of serum. The poison ivy rash should show gradual improvement and increasing dryness rather than extensive weeping.
