A member asked:

Do steroid medicine needles help with the pain in the long run ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on cause: Whether or not a steroid injection helps pain in the long run depends upon the problem. For example, if the problem is a temporary tendonitis (inflamed tendon), then the steroid may decrease inflammation long enough for the tendon to heal and pain relief may be long term. If the problem is more chronic like arthritis, then the steroid injection may decrease pain only for a few months.
