Epidural...: Done under controlled conditions with anesthesia and likely what you felt was the skin anesthetic.

Possibly: The doctor should have told you the type of injection before it was done. However, if it was done under ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance, it was either an epidural, facet or similar injection. If there was no guidance then it was a soft tissue injection.

Sounds Like It: Could have been. If they used a fancy xray machine as well, then most likely. If you do not know what they did to you, i would ask the doctor.
