Visable bleeding: Blood is an emetic (makes you vomit). Bleeding after tonsillectomy usually occurs 7-10 days after the surgery. If bleeding occurs you will spit out clots, bright red blood, or vomit blood. If this occurs see your surgeon or ER immediately. Remember stick to a soft cool diet and hydration to minimize risk of bleeding.

Yes: You would be swallowing and spitting out blood. This would be more or less in quantity depending on the severity of the bleeding.
