If an abdominal & pelvic ultrasound did not detect a hernia, should i have a ct scan? (physical exam was clear) ..i still have "hernia like" symptoms

Possibly: A ct may resolve the question but there is always the fact that you are on your back may reduce the hernia. The ultrasound should have been performed standing and with a calsalva maneuver . Otherwise there is a chance it will not see the hernia. CT may also show something other than a hernia causing the symptoms

Where?: Can your doctor feel it? That is still diagnostic for many umbilical, inguinal, incisional or femoral hernias, independent of any imaging?? Hiatal hernias are identified by esophagoscope, CT scan commonly.
