Low back pain: Hi. Low back pain is a very common ailment, and can be due to several things, most commonly, arthritis and disc problems. Standard first line therapy is an NSAID, such as naproxen or ibuprofen. These OTC drugs are very effective for most back pain, but some people get GI problems from them, so be aware of that. Only take the NSAID for as long as you have pain, ten stop it until need arises again.
