Muscle spasm: Sports like gymnastics can lead to muscle imbalances or spasm when one muscle group is favored over another. The rotator cuff muscles, levator scapulae and even trapezius may be overworked or inhibited. See a sports medicine or PMR doctor for thorough evaluation and possibly refer all to physical therapy where Myofascial release can help with areas that spasm.
