Dis(lack of) ability: Whether it is rolling over, walking, smiling in response to a human face & vocalization, much of these skills have been studied in large populations & a range of time within which they emerge is considered the norm. When these fail to emerge on time, suspicion of a motor , speech or other problem may be suspected. Some skills ore more predictive of physical or mental abilities than others.
