A member asked:

Is it dangerous if metronidazole ivtt is given 500mg accidentally instead of only 125mg? possible effect to a pedia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Metronidazole: This dose of metronidazole is not particularly dangerous. Often 500 mg is administered orally as a single dose three times a day. Intravenous dosing is faster and the peak concentration of the medication is higher than with oral dosing. But this dose is not toxic. What do you mean by possible effect to a pedia?
