Keep taking them: Please keep taking the amoxicillin and metronidazole as prescribed by your doctor for the entire course. Sometimes it takes a few days to start to feel better. However, if you think your tooth infection is worsening (versus just being slow to respond to treatment), you need to call your doctor right away to be seen. Good luck.

Antibiotics: Antibiotics will not cure an abscessed (infected) tooth, but it will limit spread of bacteria to bone, circulatory system, and other tissues and organs. Tooth must be treated, either by root canal treatment or extraction. Talk to your Dentist about definitive treatment plan. Remember, pills alone won't do it.

Tooth Infections: Tooth infections often need treatment by a dentist in conjunction with antibiotics, even before the infection has subsided. Did your dentist prescribe the antibiotics? If not, call a dentist ASAP. If so, call your dentist to explain the situation.
