It depends: Gyms offer several advantages, as they have machines for weight training and cross training, but running is the best form of cardiovascular exercise and it is free. Either way, weight training should be part of your regimen, but that can be accomplished with body weight exercises. The fact of the matter is that most people who have gym memberships rarely if ever use them. Hope this helps!
