Clean living: Thyroid surgery may not definitively cause you any problems getting pregnant. Start eating healthy, stop smoking and drinking alcohol when you want to start getting pregnant, and you should start a prenatal vitamin as well. Yes: Childbearing age women can get pregnant after thyroid surgery provided that their thyroid hormone levels are adequately replaced. Hypothyroidism can decrease success rate. Also, your thyroid hormone replacement dosage will likely increase after pregnancy (on avg. by 30-50%).
