Stress test: If the ECG is unyielding and there is no evidenc for heart attack, I would typically order a stress test. Echo may be helpful as well if there is suspicion for a structural heart problem, as would be indicated by a murmur. A CT of the coronary arteries or a catheterization may be indicated. The decision on which test to pursue next is individualized based on your particular situation.

More info needed: Defining the cause of chest pain can be complicated. An EKG done at rest is insufficient to rule out a heart problem, especially in women. Your doctor will want to take a thorough history, perform a physical exam and order appropriate tests. A nuclear stress test may be needed to help establish whether the pain is due to heart disease.
