A 38-year-old member asked:

What does sids (sudden infant death syndrome) have to do with smoking?

Dr. Holly Maes
Pediatrics 36 years experience
POISON!!: We don't know the exact specifics of what happens, but the statistics clearly show much higher rates of sids in parents who smoke. If mom smoked while pregnant, the toxins likely affect baby's respiratory center in brain and make it less mature. After birth, the poisons and toxins in the smoke, which can stick to your clothes, may affect the "switch" to tell baby to breath or affect the heartbeat.

Trying to conceive: You do not mention how long you have been trying. After 35 year of age if you have been trying to conceive for 4-6 months and have not succeded it is recommended that you seek professional help. Preseed is a sperm friendly lubricant that helps to relieve the vaginal dryness but does not aid in fertility. Gynecologists recommend this as the other lubricants are not sperm friendly.
