From the lungs: Your girl sounds like she has nasal congestion, which narrows the air passages through the nostril and results in a whistling sound with deep breathing. This happens with colds and allergies. Wheezing comes from narrowing of the bronchioles, which are the tube that lead to the air sacs in the lungs. It happens with asthma and bronchiolitis, and causes more distress than nasal congestion.

Wheezing: Wheezing is a high-pitched whistling sound usually made while breathing out but in severe cases even with breathing in. Its due to swelling and constriction of the lining of the tubes in the lung. As the air passes through the narrowed passages, a stained whistling noise is made. Happens with allergies or infection. Nasal congection can cause noise (stertor) but its not wheezing. See your doctor.
