Not normal: But a person who smokes should not try to find another reason for shortness of breath. You should QUIT before you get permanent damage(lungs, heart, brain, peripheral circulation, colon cancer, etc) Also, if you are unfit you will get breathlessness easily. Get with the program: quit smoking and start exercising. Asking further questions is an exercise in futility until you do this. START TODAY!!!

Wheezing: Wheezing requires an exam and a good explanation - could be due to smoking, but could also be any one of a number of easily correctable problems including asthma or nocturnal aspiration, etc.... Se your doc to have them listen and consider pulmonary function testing. You have not been smoking long enough to be wheezing related to that....
