Active yogurt: Body needs ''good'' bacteria in the digestive tract to function properly. Many yogurts contain these active & live cultures of bacteria ''probiotics'' such as Lactobacillus acidophilus can adjust and balance microflora in intestine and regulate digestion and immune system. Its helpful especially when you take antibiotics for an illness or have diarrhea.

One that moves!: Live and active yogurt simply means that the brand would contain at least 100 million cultures per gram at the time of manufacture, and whose frozen brand would contain 10 million cultures per gram at the time of manufacture.

Supposedly: it is having bacteria that are living. The production of yogurt from milk is from the action of bacteria breaking down the milk sugar. They are pretty harmless bacteria and actually help keep other worse bacteria from growing. In theory, having them in the yogurt is beneficial. In practice, nobody does an expiration date on the bacteria and they really are not guaranteed to be there.
