A member asked:

What causes a follicular phase e2 level in the ovulation phase, or even luteal phase? proges is also low for the phase. how to treat please? not on bc

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The ovary: Simplistically: Estrogen (E2) is produced during the follicular phase from the ovary in response to another hormone called FSH(follicle stimulating hormone). At mid cycle, ovulation occurs(now in the luteal phase)and progesterone starts to rise, and typically peaks midluteal phase. If you don't get pregnant, the E2 and Prog. levels fall, and you start your period. Then the whole cycle begins again!
