If you have a gash: I suggest you apply pressure to stop the bleeding and go to the er.

First aid: First apply pressure for 10 minutes to control bleeding, then vigorously irrigate the wound followed by an assessment of deptth to evaluate for possible skull injury. You may then want to proceed to an emergency room if bleeding is not controlled or the depth is full thickness scalp or to optimize the outcome.
