Aripiprazole, Sugar: Aripiprazole is a second-generation antipsychotic that is also approved for bipolar disorder and as an adjunctive medication for major depression. Side effects can include increased blood sugar, increased risk of developing diabetes, increased cholesterol and weight gain. All of these parameters must be carefully monitored for a patient on this medication. Not all patients develop side effects.
