Side effects: All medications have potential side effects. Some of those that can occur with ability include akathesia (ants in your pants sensation), weight gain, increased fats in blood, increased blood sugar. There is a theoretic risk for neuroleptic malignant syndrome and tardive dyskinesia. It is a medication that many of my patients use with good results. Take care.

It is one option: Abilify (aripiprazole) is one option used to treat schizophrenia. There are many other options as well. There are other reasons for prescribing Abilify (aripiprazole) such as bipolar disorder or major depression. Do not assume you have schizophrenia unless it has been specifically told you by your practitioner. Ask your psychiatrist about that if you have any questions. Best wishes.

Can I take DayQuil while on abilify (aripiprazole)?

Potential side eff.: After a number of resources were checked a drug to drug interaction though it has not been extensively studied or characterized. But abilify (aripiprazole) seems to increase sedative effects in the presence of DayQuil ingredients while Day Quil ingredients seem to reduce sedative effects. Bottom line: POTENTIAL INTERACTION and it could be significant but no hard proof available. I'd suggest caution using combo

You are more than welcome on the advice. Be safe and do check in with your doctor to get more specifics on your desire to combine an OTC with your prescription. BTW, kudos for asking SOMEONE a bit more in the know aside from the clerk at the grocery store as so many people may do in situations like this!
