I have a son who is 4 years old and every day several times a day he rubs his ear lobes because he says it feels good. should i be worried?

No: Some children develop habits, and the more we pay attention to them, the more they'll continue that habit. Once you determine he does not have ear infections or wax in his ears that may be itching him, then leave him alone, in fact, ignore him when he rubs his ears. He may stop eventually.
