Turkey: Turkey contains natural tryptophan which causes sleepiness. A regular bedtime routine with reading stories & a quiet house helps. If you are asleep, they will less likely want to stay awake at night, although there are children who play with electronics or toys at night anyway. I wouldn't give Benadryl (diphenhydramine) since it can have the opposite effect on some children making them active and alert. No sugar.

Not medication...: I would not recommend medication to help your children sleep. Consistency with expectations, less than two hours of tv/screen time per day (and not close to bedtime), lots of active outside play, avoid caffeine and excess sugar in diet, bedtime routine - bath/book to help them calm down, and patience.
