A member asked:

Why doesn't the cdc recommend blood testing for herpes if there are no symptoms?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Why do it?: A prnciple of lab testing is that if you're not going to do anythng different based on the results, don't do the test. If you're not sick and not a danger to others, don't treat. There's no gold standard for having met the viruses in any case, and I have serious doubts about the reliabilites of these labs to begin with.
