No: Hey culture for herpes can only be done when there is an active outbreak. Blood titers can be tested, but they are not diagnostic of a current infection. It may only mean that you have been exposed to herpes at some point in your life, but does not necessarily mean you are a carrier.

I heard a topic about herpes on the radio this morning & heard that it can stay dormant for years without being discovered. That got me worried, I would like to test for all STD's. I just don't know which ones are common and how to go about it. ?
STD panel all came negative except HSV-1 IgG- high positive(22.5). HSV-2 IgG negative. I have no symptoms or any outbreaks ever. HSV-1 can still spread by shedding. CDC doesn't recommend test if no symptoms. Do you think I shouldn't have tested?
