Need evaluation: Chronic diarrhea needs a complete evaluation. Etiologies are multiple including bacterial or viral infections, inflammatory or growth involving gut or pancreas. Do you need to evaluation for other associated symptoms such as fever, belly pain or blood in the stool. You need a complete evaluation including physical examination. Diarrhea: Need more history and colonoscopy to solve this issue. You are of an age in which you should have this done every five years anyway. Have your doctors tried an empirical course of tinidazole or metronidazole? Have you tried eating a cup of yogurt (unpasteurized) two or three times a day? Where have you been away from home recently? Do you have pets? Have you been around anyone with diarrhea?
