It could be: Dom, if you hit hard enough to break your skull, you could have blood behind your eardrum (we call this hemotympanum). You are likely right, that the fluid has nothing to do with the head injury, but if you get severe headaches, vomiting, or other worsening symptoms, see your doctor. Hope this helps!
