Phenobarbitol: There is no evidence for a difference in antiepileptic efficacy between phenobarbital and any other compared AED, and also no evidence for absolute efficacy. No proof exists for increases in behavioural adverse effects. In childhood epilepsy studies show no significant differences in behavioural or cognitive adverse effects comparing phenobarb with other antiepileptics. Listen to your doctor.
