Neuropathy typically: Manifests in numbness, often in the feet. It can be secondary to diabetes as you suggest and can also be the result of chemotherapy. Anything that damages the nerves, such as trauma, can cause it. Please do what your doc says but a natural approach is using high doses of Alpha lipoic acid. See a natural doc for guidance. No: Not all neuropathy is painful. Patients with painful neuropathy complain of burning tingling and pain in legs at rest. Neuropathy can affect sleep and balance. There are other causes of neuropathy besides diabetes. A doctor would have to sort this out.
