Fractured bone?: Both conditions are painful. On examination, both can be tender as well. The best way to differentiate is to get an xray. Some fractures may not show up on plain xray, but that is the best place to start. Occasionally, if xrays are not conclusive, but symptoms persist, other studies such as MRI can be helpful. Good luck!
